Creating a New Course

    Creating a Course

     

    NOTE: You must be added as a Course Created for this functionality. Please contact [email protected]  for assistance.

     

    1.  

    On the left of your screen, select Administration/ Site Administration / Courses / Manage courses and categories.

     

                     

    1.  

    Scroll to your Site-Specific Category and click on your category title. (e.g., Sienna Living)

     

    You can see other categories, but you cannot edit any other courses.

    Select Create new course.

    In the General section fill in:

      1. Course full name (if site specific add the site name in brackets at the end of the course name.

    e.g.: Resident Services - Activities

      1. Copy and paste the Course full name into the Course short name field.
      2. Change Course visibility to Show.

     

     

     

     

    You can leave the visibility at hide until you are done creating/testing the course, then come back and change to Show for it to appear to all other users.

     

     

      1. If the course is to only remain active for a period of time, select the time from using the Course start date and Course end date. To keep this course active on an ongoing basis, uncheck the Enable checkbox.

     

    NOTE: It is strongly suggested you do not put a course start and end date.  This will hide the course from users before/after the date and any new hires will not be able to complete

    In the Course Format section:

      1. Verify Format is Topics format.
      2. Change Number of sections to 0.

    In the Completion tracking section:

      1. Verify Enable completion tracking is set to Yes.
      2. Verify Show activity completion conditions is set to Yes.

    Select Save and display.

    At the top right of your TLC screen, click the cog wheel and select  Turn editing on.

    If the course is to expire and reset January 1 of each year, Select Administration / Course administration / Course completion.

    Set the expiration date for the course to reset.

    1. In section Condition: expiration by date”
    2. Check box beside Enable.
    3. Set date to 31 December

    *You have the option to select the amount of time a learning record is valid.  If annual, leave the default ‘every year’.

    Scroll to the bottom and click Save Changes.

    Select Administration / Course administration / Users / Self enrollment (Advance)

    In the field for Only cohort members, type an underscore and your home name to find the cohort that the security pertains to and click on the selection. This will allow the course to show only to your site in the Course Catalogue.

    If you do not find your site in this list, please contact [email protected].

    Click on Save Changes.

    Proceed to add your content!  See next section for different activities you can add.  Please contact [email protected] for any concerns or clarification.

     

    *Once you add content, you must set the Completion Settings to tell TLC what is mandatory to complete for a full Course Completion. 

    Please proceed to next step after you have added your content.

    Instructions for adding content can be followed by going to the following sections in this guide:

    • Adding a SCORM
    • Adding a Graded Question

    Select Administration / Course administration / Course completion.

    In the Condition: Activity Completion, select all activities that must be completed to get a full course completion.

    Click Save changes.
